Marine Grade Aluminum 5052 5083 for Boat Building

Since 1891, aluminum alloys have been used in the shipbuilding industry for nearly a hundred years. With the rapid development of the shipbuilding industry at home and abroad, the lightweight of ships is increasingly valued. Due to its low density, high strength and strong corrosion resistance, aluminum is very suitable for the harsh environment of the ocean. 5052 and 5083 are two types of aluminum sheets for boat building.

Marine grade aluminum 5052 has a higher magnesium content than other alloys, so it has good anti-rust properties. This is also an important reason why 5052 marine aluminum plate is used in ship hulls. Magnesium has high strength and good corrosion resistance, which can well cope with the corrosion of sea water, fresh water, etc.

5052 aluminum sheet is suitable for the manufacture of economical aluminum alloy ships. The aluminum plate size used in this aluminum alloy ship is 2*2000*9000mm. In addition to being used in ship plates, 5052 aluminum plates can also be used in cable trays, ship sinks, cabin floors, etc.

5083 aluminum sheet features

1. Excellent corrosion resistance: 5083 aluminum has excellent corrosion resistance and can be used for a long time in various harsh environments. Its main components are aluminum and magnesium, which have good antioxidant properties and can effectively prevent oxidation and corrosion.

2. High strength: 5083 aluminum plate has high strength and can meet the material strength requirements of various industrial fields. Its tensile strength can reach more than 270MPa, which is a medium-strength aluminum alloy.

3. Good welding performance: 5083 aluminum sheet has ood welding performance and can be connected through various common welding methods. At the same time, it can also be welded with other metal materials and has good adaptability.

4. Excellent processing performance: 5083 aluminum plate is easy to process and form, and performs well in cold and hot rolling, drawing, deep drawing and other processing processes. Therefore, it is widely used in shipbuilding, automobile manufacturing, architectural decoration and other fields.

5. Lightweight: It has a density of only 2.68g/cm3, compared to steel with a density as high as 7.85g/cm3. Using 5083 aluminum plates can effectively reduce the overall weight and improve transportation efficiency.

6. Good heat resistance: Marine grade aluminium 5083 has good heat resistance and can be used in high temperature environments for a long time. Its melting point is 655°C and it can maintain stability below 600°C for a long time.

7. Excellent mechanical properties: 5083 aluminum plate has excellent mechanical properties, and its strength, toughness and ductility are relatively balanced. At the same time, it also has a certain impact resistance, which can ensure the integrity of the structure in unexpected situations.

8. High recycling value: 5083 aluminium sheet is a recyclable material that meets environmental protection requirements. Waste materials generated during use can be reprocessed and recycled to reduce resource waste.
