What Are Aluminum 6082 Applications?

At present, the aluminum alloys used for ship hulls mainly include 5083, 5086, 6061, 6082 aluminium plate and other series. The conditional yield strength of 5083 aluminum alloy is 110 MPa, and the tensile limit is 270 MPa; the conditional yield strength of 6082 aluminum alloy is 260 MPa, and the tensile limit is 310 MPa. In addition, 1050, 1200, 3003/3203 and other series aluminum alloys are widely used in ship outfitting.

These aluminum alloys are widely used in the design and construction of large ship superstructures, high-speed passenger ships and small speedboats. In the melting and casting process, the focus of 6082 aluminum alloy composition control is the Mn and Cr content range. The optimal control range of Mn content is 0.6% ~ 0.65%, the Cr content should be controlled below 0.15%, and the total amount of (Mn Cr) should be controlled within the range of 0.70% ~ 0.80%.

The Mg2Si content should be controlled at 1.5% ~ 1.6%, and the excess Si content should be controlled at about 0.3%. During the extrusion process, control of the extrusion exit temperature and quenching effect is the key to ensuring product performance. The quenching temperature is 500°C and the profile extrusion exit temperature should be controlled between 500°C and 530°C. The quenching should be strong and fast.

There are four main tempers of 6082 aluminum tubes: O, T4, T6, and T651, and they have good anodizing effect. For example, the air-conditioning pipes in our daily life are made of 6082 aluminum pipe. In particular, the O and T4 states of 6082 aluminum tubes are mainly used in bending and forming applications.
