RINA Marine Grade Aluminum for Punt

The marine grade aluminum sheet is widely used in small boats building like punt. There is a highlight of 5052h32 and aluminum 6063-t5. All of our marine grade aluminum has the related certification like RINA.

5052 aluminum sheet

With high magnesium content, 5052 aluminum sheet has a good anti-rust function. This is also an important reason why the 5052 marine aluminum plate is used in the hull. Magnesium's high strength, anti-rust function, and corrosion resistance can well cope with the corrosion of seawater, fresh water, etc. Haomei Aluminum can provide extra wide 5052 aluminum sheet with a width of 2650mm.

5052 aluminum is also called Almg2.5, which also means the content of mg alloy (magnesium alloy) is around 2.5% (between 2.2-2.6), with low density (2.68), high strength, and good machinability. According to different annealing time and process, 5052 aluminum plate can be divided into various tempers with different hardness and machinability.

5052-h32: It is the most commonly used temper, which can be bent at 90 degrees in this state. It is suitable for the manufacturing needs of various sheet metal parts, chassis cabinets, lighting manufacturing and other industries.

5052-O: It has the lowest strength and high elongation, which is suitable for stretching processing.

Aluminum 6063

The sudden drop of the aluminum plate from high temperature to low temperature is quenching. The 6063 aluminum is quenched by air cooling, and the quenched aluminum profile is aged in an aging furnace for a certain period of time. The internal crystals of the aluminum profile are rearranged, and the mechanical strength is significantly improved.

The forming temperature of aluminum extruded profiles is 460~500 degrees, and the temperature after quenching is generally required to be 200 degrees. Aluminum 6063-t5 is air-cooled after extrusion and aluminum 6063-t6 is water-cooled after extrusion, and the hardness increases after water quenching. However, if the aluminum material needs to be stretched and bent, try not to be in the T6 state.

Some people think that the difference between aluminum plate T5 and T6 is only the difference in cooling speed, not the difference between air-cooled and water-cooled. If the cooling speed of air-cooled is large enough, it can also achieve the effect of T6. On the contrary, the quenching is water cooling but the cooling speed is not large enough, 6063 aluminum can only reach T5 state.

In fact, the T6 state can be quenched on-line (water cooling or strong air cooling), or off-line quenching (quenching with a quenching furnace), but it should be determined according to customer requirements and product specifications. In actual production, no matter which production process is adopted, the key is to meet the mechanical strength requirements of the 6063 aluminum profile.

What is the difference between 6063 T5 and T6? The size of T5 air-cooled products will not be deformed. Almost all profiles such as doors and windows will choose aluminum 6063-t5 while T6 profiles are water-cooled and thinner profiles will deform when exposed to water. Of course, the performance of 6063-t6 can also be improved by spraying water.
